Playing a musical instrument
Unlike my brothers who all know how to play the guitar, I don’t play any instruments. I can remember when I was young, I tried learning to play the piano but since I didn’t have formal lessons or nobody was there to teach me, I wasn’t able to learn further. Aside from that, we didn’t have piano at home so I never learned by myself. But one instrument that fascinates me are the ukuleles. It belongs to the guitar family which has only four strings. I like going to youtube to watch people play Ukulele and its music to the ears. I find it entertaining and really amazing seeing people play this small musical instruments. just look at this video while a young boy plays I’m Yours using the Ukulele.
Playing Bingo
I was on facebook yesterday when I noticed that one of my friends was playing bingo. I didn’t know that facebook has this application and that bingo can already be played online. I didn’t grow up playing bingo so I didn’t find time to search for an online bingo games for me to play on my spare time. The mall is a place where I see people playing bingo, they are able to enjoy playing after doing their own shopping. But I have never tried playing in the mall, I do know how to play it but it’s not a hobby for me but I know someone who would enjoy playing this game.
Upon living in my in-law’s place when I and my husband were newly married I became exposed to bingo. I would see my father-in-law putting numbers to bingo cards and sometimes we would even help him do that. Sometimes, my mother-in-law would sell me bingo cards, we would buy and play it when we are available but most of the time we would let our sister-in-law play for it. I have experienced playing bingo and it was fun, but as it is a game of chance I have not experienced winning a prize. LOL.
The beautiful thing about the bingo that is being held at my in-law’s place is that they are used as fund raisers. Especially, if the town fiesta is near already, the town head would host a bingo game, sell bingo cards at a very affordable price and have attractive prizes. Not only the town people would participate but also other people coming from different places. These people who buy the cards not only help the town have a wonderful fiesta but they also have the chance to win big prizes and of course enjoy playing their favorite game.
Congratulations to “Astig Pinoy”!

I wasn’t able to watch the All Star Barangayan the Finals of Showtime or simply Showtime’s Season Four Grand Finals yesterday due to some personal activities. There are fourteen finalists namely:
Kanlumon Performing Ensemble
Neutron Acrobats
D’Shots
Kingz Gambit
FMD Extreme
Astig Pinoy
Spy
Pinoy HipHop
Racing Chat
Bailes De Luces
Buli Kidz Incredible
Teatro Ambahanon
Prime Machine
UDC
The contestants have different concepts, from contemporary dancing duo to contemporary dancing trio to modern folk dance group. Of course, hiphop groups or the typical dance groups are the concept of the most groups but they all have different twists in their performances. I was curious to know who the grand winner is so I immediately searched for a video of their performance. From the different blogs, I found out that Astig Pinoy won the competition with the final score of 9.933 percent. I have watched a personal video at youtube and I was really impressed with their performance. They are really “astig” with the hiphop dance that they performed and they are really “pinoy” with their tinikling performance. The tinikling routine was really impressive and they even did it blind folded with the jumping rope exhibition. I wish to share the video with you, but I’ll do it once I found a good quality video at youtube.
The wild card winner, UDC, received the Madlang People’s Choice Award, probably because of their “Komang Dance.” I’ve watched their performance on the wild card week and they are really cute, their Komang dance was like a “dance craze.”
Congrats Astig Pinoy! You deserve it! And congrats to UDC also for that unique Komang Dance!

PGT Semi-Finals: Rico the Magician
First semi-finals of the Pilipinas got talent took place last Saturday. The six semi finalist will perform and after that voting will be opened for the viewers and supporters to text and vote their favorite talent. On Sunday, PGT will announce who will move to the grand finals. The highest number of votes will automatically move to the finals but second and third place would have to perform again for the judges and the judges will decide. Rico the magician is one of the favorites and he is one of my favorites too. But he didn’t get the votes of the two female judges that is why he wasn’t able to move to the finals. Here is a copy of his performance that I got from youtube. Enjoy!
After the performance, the judges have to choose and I can see from the expressions of the judges that they are really sad. Maybe they didn’t expect that Rico will not get the highest number of votes and they feel sorry that they have to choose between him and the Madrigal siblings who are also good in their own field, singing. The female judges have to apologize and cry because it was really difficult for them. This is just the first round, there are still five rounds for the semis and there will still a lot of jobs to do. A really hard job of choosing between two talents that can be both deserving.
Good luck to the rest of the semi-finalist.
PGT: Season 2
Pilipinas Got Talent or simply PGT season 2 started last Saturday. I was able to watch the show on Sunday only and one or two acts caught my attention. One is Rico the Magician’s performance. It was really good and I think it’s time to move over, Alakim. Lol! Oopss that was just a joke! I like Alakim too and his Butterfly act. He is good at his craft and so is Rico. So here’s a video of Rico the magician’s performance last Sunday.
Christmas Carols
Yesterday after going to The Feast at Valle Verde we went to Robinsons Galleria. My mom paid some bills and after we did a little strolling and window shopping. While walking we heard voices singing Christmas carols. We didn’t know that there was a schedule of Holiday Symphony of Music. This is Robinson’s activity everyday wherein famous chorale groups will sing Christmas carols for shoppers. Yesterday’s group was the Kilyawan Boys Choir.
The boys were from different age groups, I think there are boys as young as 6 or 7 years old who has a very beautiful voice. Older boys also serenaded their audience with a beautiful Christmas song. It was very relaxing listening to their songs, I’m sure their parents are very proud of them and they would give whatever Christmas gift they want even if it is an expensive toy or a gadget like psp. Who wouldn’t give in to their request if they have a son who has a very beautiful voice and can sing in front of many people very confidently?
There are still other performances to catch, today until the 22nd there will be three different chorale groups who will perform. If you will do your shopping in Robinsons Galleria or within the vicinity do drop by at 5pm at the activity area and listen to the Chorale Groups as they sing Christmas carols.
Showtime 2nd Grand Champion
Showtime second grand finals happened last Saturday. There were 10 grand finalists who competed for the title of Showtime Second Grand Champion. Most of the contestants were group dancers who performed cramping, break dancing and hip hop dancing. There were also Black light hand mime performers, gymnastics group and interpretative dance group. I am sure all the contestants gave their best in preparing for the grand competition. For sure some members developed dark circles under eyes because of sleepless nights due to practices to master their routine. But all their efforts were not put to waste because all the performances were really great and entertaining.
20 hurados(judges) and Vice Ganda had the difficult task of judging the ten Grand finalist. For sure it was really difficult giving scores to each of the contestants because they are all deserving to be part of the grand finals but of course like any other competition there will be only one winner and it was the Laoag City Gymnastics Group who performed a breath taking gymnastic exhibition. Congratulations to the group and I hope they will go to different countries to represent the Philippines in different Gymnastic competition.
