SCE #1: New Year’s Food
SCE stands for Saturday Comment Exchange. I hope Mei, who started this meme just today, would not mind the acronym that I used. Joining is very simple, you can visit Mei’s site for more info but generally the aim of this meme is to have comment exchange with other bloggers and of course, gaining friends along the way is included in this fun meme. Bloggers just have to follow the topic for each week.
So, this week’s topic is FOOD. Since, I haven’t shared our New Year’s food yet, I think here’s the chance to share it. To start with, we have a lechon….

nope.. not the real lechon but this lechon is a bread. My husband brought home three of this to be given to my mother, his mother and of course for us to share.

I also prepared lumpiang shanghai, pork caldereta and macaroni and cheese which was a hit. It was just my second time to cook Macaroni and cheese. I love trying out new dishes and I might even try to go to one of the cooking schools online so that next New Year’s I can make even more yummy foods.

At my mother’s house, which was several street away from our house, there were Arroz Valenciana, liempo, sotanghon, gelatin and fruit salad. We just brought our food at my mother’s house after the “putukan” and we ate media noche there.

New Blog
I have a new blog. This is a food blog. If I am a trying hard blogger, I am a trying hard cook too. I learn to cook simple food when I was in elementary. Now that I am staying at home, I have more time to cook for my family. I also love to try different recipes I found on the net or a cook book. So, this blog would talk about food that I and my family love. I wanted to put a click here link that would redirect you to my site, but I guess I would do it on a later time when I am done with the widgets. I hope I can do that today after we go to mass. Have a great Sunday everyone.
Corned Beef
My son requested for corned beef for breakfast today. I give in to his request but I have to divide the corned beef into two portions because hubby don’t want it to have potato and want it dried while my son wants it to have potato and a little sauce. It’s like buying patio furniture covers, everyone has their own taste and preference. Here’s a photo of our breakfast this morning:
To start with, I cut the potatoes in strips then fried it first and set it aside, after that I sautéed the garlic and half of the onion cut into rings. I added the corned beef, added a little seasoning because corned beef itself already has seasoning already. After a few minutes, I separated a portion for my hubby. I added a little water to the corned beef that was left and after it boiled I added the fried potatoes. Few minutes later, I turned off the heat and put the other half of onion on top. I like some raw onions with corned beef. Preparing it was so easy and my son loves it so much.
Scramble Anyone?
Anybody of you who remember Scramble? This is a street food and it’s popular to kids. Usually, red in color and you can add toppings like chocolate syrup or you can even add red sago.Remember???
Now, you can buy scramble inside the mall. I tasted this two weeks ago at SM Mega Mall and it’s okay for me. Almost like having it in the street.
Smallest size cost Php 10.00. The toppings is milk powder but you can add Php 5.00 for additional toppings. You can choose from chocolate or candy sprinkles, sago, or additional milk powder. Try it now.

GT: Favorite Junk Food
It’s Thursday again, so it’s time for Girl Talk. Today’s topic is Junk Food.
It’s hard deciding what is my most favorite junk food, because I enjoy eating a lot of junk foods.
tsk..tsk… bad for the health.
My all time favorite junk food is French fries from KFC, Mcdonalds and other fast food restaurant. I also like criss cut fries and twister fries which are just seasonal in some fast food restaurants:
I also enjoy eating some other junk foods found in the supermarket. I like Oishii’s products like Potato ridges, Potato Chips. I love the cheese flavor. And these three are from different company but I love them also.
Ever since I had a son, I have to lessen my intake of junk foods. I want to be a good example to him. LOL.

GT: Comfort Food
Here’s my comfort food:
Beef noodles with egg. I tried looking for pictures in the net for this and thanks to dummyatcooking.wordpress.com this is the best that I got.
I love eating this when I was in Elementary. This serve as my breakfast when I am in a hurry. This is also a fast food for me whenever I am hungry.
When it comes to dessert,I can’t say no to this one. Just posting the picture here makes me crave for it. When I get depressed these two will be the best to cheer me up.

Taste the Dishes by Pehpot

Introduction
Dishes by pehpot, obviously is a blog of Pehpot, the tag team of K in hosting the biggest blogversary contest and this review is an entry for that contest. And pehpot is also giving away $5 to the best reviewer of her blogs.
Design
The header fits the blog title very well, it shows a woman holding some kitchen utensils in front of the kitchen. The sidebars are very clean with archives, blogroll (wherein in you can see her other blogs) and some other elements. The categories are perfect; readers can easily choose what kind of food they want to see first.
Theme and Content
The title is perfect for the contents of the blog. The topic revolves around food. There are food recipes here so other people can try out her dishes too, food that the author and her family enjoys. She joins meme that talks about food like Food Trip Friday.
Writing Style And Grammar
Pehpot is good writer. She can give instructions very well that even non-Filipino bloggers can follow her simple steps in making a delicious dish. I even notice one of the recipes have Filipino translation for better understanding. Photos are enticing, it make my tummy cry.
I’m not a proof reader and I’m not good with writing, but I did notice few typo errors but it’s not obvious.
Some Trivia
The footer also contains some images of pots and pans, veggies and fruits a few meat. Pehpot is more of a veggie eater though as she said she is not a vegetarian.
Recommendation
On a one to ten scale, 10 as the highest, I would rate Dishes by Pehpot, as 9. I wanted to rate it 10, but I’ve always believe that there is always a room for improvement.
It’s great the Pehpot created this site and it’s perfect for people who love eating, who loves cooking, and who’s trying to cook and trying to impress their love one with a wonderful dish.
