Tips to make your New Year’s resolution successful
Are you one of the people who create a new year’s resolution? Is there any item on your list that was on your list last year? Don’t worry you are not alone, some studies shows that only 12% are able to achieve their new year’s resolution. Here are some tips that I learned last Sunday from Bro. Obet’s teaching at the Feast Valle Verde. This would be a 30-day challenge.
Select it! – Choose one area of your life that needs change or choose one New Year’s resolution that you want to be successful with. You can choose from these five areas:
- Intellectual Quotient
- Emotional Quotient
- Physical Quotient
- Wealth Quotient
- Spiritual Quotient
For example, the most common item on a new year’s resolution is to lose weight or maintain a healthy lifestyle, this belongs to physical quotient. Just choose only one, then after being successful in the challenge you can choose another.
Aim for 30 days if you want your goal to be successful, aim for 30 days. It would take 21 days to change your habit and a mental pathway in your brain. 21 days means you have passed the mark already and 30 days you are in the honor roll.
For example, you want to lose weight, so it means you need to exercise. A lot one hour a day in your exercise and do it for 30 days. What if you were able to exercise for 14 consecutive days, then on the 15th day you failed to exercise, then you have to start back at one.
Do it daily. Don’t just do it when you remember it or when you feel like doing it. You can never lose weight when you exercise once a week.
Schedule it. You need to set a time to do what you have to do. You can use your cellphone to remind you to do things. If you like doing your exercise in the morning, like 7am, schedule it. Do it 7am everyday.
Replace it. Change a bad habit to a good habit, something beneficial for you. If you like to eating fatty food, why not replace it with eating vegetables.
Study it. Learn more about the change you want. If you want to lose weight, read more about it, study calories intake, healthy foods, the right exercise, the burning of fats and just about anything related to loosing weight.
Support it. Tell your family and friends about the challenge that you are making to yourself. Ask them to help you, pray for you and remind you.
The example that I have given above is very common, but if you want to change something like you want to be closer to God, you want to improve your financial status, it is also applicable.
Lastly, identify your PURPOSE, the why in the success. If you have a very emotional and enormous reason on changing something about yourself or in being successful in at least one item on your new year’s resolution list then you would likely to be more successful.
This is just part one of the series OVERHAUL, change your life in 30 days. Next phase would be plan. If you want to hear the teaching, you can attend the Feast at Valle Verde, Pasig, 10am or 1pm. There would be a mass, worship and a teaching. See you there.
Mini Concert at The Feast
Last Sunday’s Feast (December 6) at Valle Verde Pasig, was one of the Best Feast that I attended. They have prepared a special concert. It’s called “A Pasasalamat Concert”.
The Hosts were George Gabriel and Randy Borromeo. They rendered a Christmas song too. Next performers was the Prayerboyz. They were great as well. But my favorite performances were from the Kerygma 5, they are Arun Gogna, Adrian Panganiban, Jon Escoto, Obet Cabrillas and Alvin Barcelona.
They entered the stage with a blast by singing “we will rock you” chorus, but instead of “rock” they changed it to “bless” and Bamboo’s Hallelujah. After that, each of them rendered their own solo performance.
They still performed religious song, that was awesome!
After the performances, Bro. Bo Sanchez, still gave a short message which is “Wealth is Gratitude; Gratitude is Wealth”
There are three levels of gratitude:
Superficial Gratitude – this is being thankful for big ticket items. Like having a Car, House, Healing. It is good but it doesn’t last very long
Simple Gratitude – this is being thankful with big or small gifts from God.
But when it comes to love, there’s no such thing as a small gift. But this is not the deppest form of gratitude
Sacred Gratitude is the deepest gratitude. We are already thankful in all circumtances. We are just thankful for the life itself. We are thankful that we are alive. We are thankful always.
After The Feast, I was truly blessed and happy.
The Feast is a Eucharistic Celebration, worship and teaching. At Valle Verde Pasig, it is held every Sunday, with three sessions at 8am, 10:30am and 1pm.
